Hello guys, I have been trying to find an answer for plugging in my Maximus VIII extreme to my PSU, the motherboard has an 8 pin and 4 pin for the CPU.

The question is, Should I just plug in the 8 pin and it's all done, or should I as well plug in the 4 pin?

I am planning to overclock, so I'm gonna need the whole thing to run full power. thanks in advance.

Read your motherboard manual.
The aux 4/8 pin cpu headers are to give added power to the motherboard for overclocking and extra power for the pcie slots.

Likely, you do not need all unless you are heavily overclocking with ln2 and will use two strong graphics cards.
Still, if you have the psu leads, I do not see any reason not to connect them.

COOL, thanks for all the fast answers.

Now, how can I connect that 4 pin if my second CPU output on my PSU is only 8 pin, I do have an 8pin/4+4pin cable. ?? which "4" should I use out of the two 4+4 ?
