Okay so I recently just bought the MSI M7 ACK (GREAT MOBO). But the ATX is weird on this thing. Next to the CPU it has an 8 Pin with a 4 Pin next to it. I don't know if you need both or if you just need at least an 8 pin or a 4 pin. I looked online and couldn't get ANY answers. I just put a ticket in for MSI but they take way too long to answer. So I figured id come here. The computer runs just fine but I did hear without the extra 4 pin you cant OC the i9 7900x. Idk if its true or not I haven't really tried because I'm kinda scared lol... If this is true, where can I find a 4 pin ATX chord that can be added to my corsair CX850M or where can I find myself an 8Pin +4 Pin ATX cable because I've looked for days and still cant find anything. Thank you in advance!

Okay thank you, so what would be the point of having the extra 4Pin?

The additional 4-pin gives your motherboard more 12V lines for extreme OC'ing in case the 12V lines on the 8-pin will find itself insufficient.

Sadly, your current CX850M PSU only has 1 ATX12V/EPS connector, a 4+4 pin (or 8-pin).

In order for you to plug in both the 8-pin and the 4-pin of your mobo for extreme OC'ing, you need a PSU that has at least 2 ATX12V/EPS connectors (usually, both 4+4 pins), which usually comes with 2 separate cables (plugs in to separate female socket on the PSU itself). Some examples of such PSUs in the Corsair line up are the: AXi/AX series (all), HXi series (all), some HX series (HX850 and HX1050 only), the RM850i, some RMx series (RM1000x and RM850x only), and some TX/TXM series (850W and 750W only).

You plug the 4+4 on the 8-pin and just half of the other 4+4 (leaving the half 4-pin unattached) to the 4-pin of your motherboard.

Okay, am I really at a disadvantage here without it? Like nothing significant right?

As I already wrote: stupidly extreme overclocking.

Perfect, thank you man :)
