Hello, I am concerned over my 80C temps on my FX 8350 and Gaia SD1283 cooler when gaming (Not overclocked). My questions are: Is this normal? If not, what is causing it and how can I solve it?

I don't think its normal, because after some research, the stock FX 8350 shouldn't go past 60C in the first place. I put the cooler in about a year ago and I just dusted out my computer, so dust shouldn't be a problem. Also, its not the case because my GPU (7950) never exceeds 60C. There are no random wires because I was very careful with cable management. I have two exhaust fans next to the CPU (not counting the CPU fan) as well.

On idle, my CPU runs about 30C, and quickly goes up to 80C when I'm gaming. This happens regardless of what game I play, whether its a less graphic intensive game (League) to Battlefield 4 / Skyrim + Enb.

Solution
Yes, that's too warm. I would check in BIOS and see if the CPU FAN settings have changed. Are they set to auto? Try full speed for awhile and see if the issue still happens.
Has the thermal paste been on for a long time under hot conditions and heavy gaming for long hours every day? if so, it may be drying out and needing replacement.
Be sure the mounting hasn't come loose over time from the transition from warm to cool.

Solution
When a CPU goes to extreme temperatures for no reason, it is almost always the thermal paste or a defective product. 62C on the core and 70c on the socket is the max for the fx8350. However, since you put the cooler on a year ago, it could be the CPU fan is bad or your bios settings need to be changed. You can use a fan control program to make sure your CPU fan is running fast enough, and to ensure that another program is not interfering.
Did you replace the thermal paste when you installed the new cooler?

Yes, I reapplied the thermal paste when I installed the cooler. I'm going to check my bios settings and then see if reapplying more thermal paste will help tomorrow. I'll give an update when I'm done, thanks.

Reapplying thermal paste won't do anything unless it's not covering most of the CPU. Still wouldn't hurt though so give it a shot.
