Drop that 8600 gts off there, look at one of these.....

Or go for a 9600gt for a few dollars more, either of those should smash that 8600 gts.

Btw, junk the Asus board, overpriced....

Here's what I'm running right now, very nice board, same chipset and sli capability, save yourself 40-50 bucks....

Also, speakers you could save some if you're willing to take a chance, if you have to have 5.1 speakers....

Also, dump the raptor, look at this seagate drive....Save yourself another 60 or so.

And double your storage. So all in all you could shave 100-150 right there.....your call.

Oh, btw, your price on that chip is off. You can pick up a 6000+ for the price your showing on newegg.

How about this?

Then add an aftermarket cooler, supposed to overclock very well. Or check this one out....

110, should have cooler with it, don't think you'd see much difference between that and a 5600+. Could always overclock, I'm running a 5200 windsor at the moment, and it scores 5.2 on the Vista experience index with no overclock.

While ryan is right, you can cut a few corners and still have awesome performance for your money. It's all a matter of balance.

dude!!! before ryanthesav came in to post his completely not needed, same for every single thread which he spams all over the place you do realize this threads last message was 7-28-2007
ryan wth are you doing????

He's been doing that all over the damn place.

Ryan get that crap out of here. Stop spamming your crappy AMD fanboy build where it is completely impractical.

The main problem is that the system you offered is far over his budget. You said you know this, so why did you post it? If his budget is $850, showing him parts that exceed his budget by hundreds of dollars will gain him nothing.
