I have been looking to do an 8700k build for a while now, not had a lot of time to mess with it but done some research and part picking and came up with a list. I will be using this for games like BF, Ghost recon at 4k. I currently don't have a 4k monitor but plan on getting one eventually. Thought about getting a 4k tv instead of a monitor since they can be had for a little cheaper usually.

Here is the list:

I would not mind having the noctua nh-d15 cpu cooler but not sure if I will have any clearance issues with ram or anything else.

Something else is I tend to keep my builds for several years so would like to be as future proof as possible. I know there is no such thing in the computer world. I am currently running an i7-920 and 5870 gpu.

This may be a dumb question. I got most of the parts, still waiting on cpu cooler. But on the Samsung 960 evo m.2 ssd, where do I install that on the motherboard, the pci-e x4 slot or the one of the m.2 slots? My motherboard has 2 m.2 slots. The ssd has pci-e x4 interface. And would it make a difference which m.2 slot I put it in? I am guessing the m.2 slot uses the pci-e x4 interface?

Another question, on one of the m.2 slots, it has a heatsink with a thermal pad on it. But that will not fit on the other m.2 slot. Do I need to use that heatsink?

On pcpartpicker, it says on m.2 slot 1, one sata 6gb port will be disabled and 2 sata 6gb ports will be disabled if using m.2 slot 2. How do I know which port it will disable? I looked in the motherboard manual and could not find anything about that. And m.2 slot 1 is the slot that the heatsink does not fit on.

I got by new build up and running, I decided to reuse my old Antec 1200 case. Everything seems to be running good. Been playing Destiny 2, came free with video card and running at 60fps, that is what my monitor can handle, most of the time with everything on highest setting.

CPU temps go up to mid 40's and GPU goes up to low 60's while playing Destiny 2. At idle, CPU is around mid 20's and GPU around upper 20's.

Ran a passmark test and got an overall score of around 5600. What else can I do to test my system out like data transfer speeds between hard drives?

I am having one issue with it. Once the GPU fans spin up, they will not slow back down. When I turn the computer on, the fans are not spinning at all. But after a few minutes of playing Destiny 2, the gpu temp will start to rise and the fans will speed up and the temps cool back down. But the fans stay running at high speed.

Normally when just browsing the web and whatnot, the fans would never kick in. But just recently, the fans kicked in while just browsing the web, the fans kicked in and not slowing down.
