Tri-SLi anyone?

Probably, but it also needs it at the chip level to be ful SLi.

There's been talk of this for a while and I was surprised that they didn't add it to the G71 refresh.

It's similar to how the X1950Pro is setup, but it's still unknown if they can implement multi-CF with that kinda of setup but it stands to reason as it's not a hardware limitation, especially with super-tiling.

BTW, for consolidation of the rumours, maybe this link is easiest;

That would be available for PRE-ORDER, not Backorder.

And I'll believe the prices when they actually have stock, e-tailers are notorious for putting in weird prices before they actualy get products. It's annoying when it says $299 before launch then the day they have stock suddenly it show $349. NCIX acts a little differently they have huge prices (like $2,000) when they are waiting for a launch, and then bring it down to actual price when product arrives, that way no hurt feelings, and no one complains "Damn, I wanted to pay $2000 for that" versus "Man you said it was gonna be $50 cheaper last week when you had none!".

I'll believe stock and prices when they are shipping, not just taking requests.

I stand corrected.

and that's true, i think when they're gonna be available for purchase prices are going to be way to high, like with c2d(i remember the first day the e6400 became available on newegg the price was like $499 in the morning, then in the afternoon it went down to $449, or something like that). Unfortunately, we're gonna se a lot of price gauging

not interested in SLI, since some of us don't have the bank account of a small country http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=4812 will give the benchmarks of the 8800 GTX single configuration in Halflife2: lost coast, Prey and Quake 4 ... all are in 1600x1200 with 4xAA/16xAF.

But I am. Kentsfield x6700, SLI 8800GTX, 4gigs of XMS2 ram,
1Kw PSU, monitor - either 16x12 or 19x12. I would like to wait for
the RD600/R600 - But, I'm tired of waiting. To be only marginal faster,
who cares. Since, there will always be something faster. Yorkfield - I
don't even want to think about it.

Its good that there are varying reviews always on things such as this.
Some SLI, some not. Some compared to high end nvidia current gen and some ATI etc.

I won't initially be able to afford 2 8800GTXs but that doesn't mean it won't be in my future upgrade path eh? hehe

I can't wait any longer either, I'd love to wait for R600 but dang I've been dying just trying to hold out for Q6700 and next gen graphics period. I mean you see the setup I currently have to deal with. Although still not too shabby I don't get what I want out of some current games so why not make a purchase that will last me a couple years.

Ok got long-winded. peace.

LEADTEK 8800GTS PREVIEW

leadtek-8800gtx-01.jpg

leadtek-8800gtx-02.jpg

The usual versions GeForce 8800 gtx and GeForce 8800 gts from Leadtek will be announced on 8 November, modifications with the alternative cover will be availble on 13 November. Nothing to communicates about the differences in the characteristics and price.

all video card from the first party will be prepared by producer contract , moreover this not Asus and not Foxconn. According to the specified data, video card with standard design will be relesead by MSI. Company Asus only came forward by the author of this design.

Video card of the second part will had more freedom in their characteristics, NVIDIA even can entrusted their production to several partners. However, to step back from the standard design it will not allow. It is a bit complex to predict for the moment how mych will take the phase from the first to the second part production.

The GTS seem like a sweet Card to me. It'll either be a GTS or a X1950 in some flavor that'll get ditch when the R600 comes out. Tough call. Hope they'll be some nice bundle of 680/8800 that would be sweet Im in the US for another month or so, my take advantages of newegg and zipzoom!

GEFORCE 8800 GTX WATER BLOCK DATE:2006-11-07

8800gtx-water-cooling_02.jpg

8800gtx-water-cooling_03.jpg

8800gtx-water-cooling_04.jpg

The first data about the heat level of the g80 chip were worried .many have imagination that those card will heat alot and water cooling system will be immediately required to get the card working cool :).
Closer acquaintance with video cards GeForce 8800 GTX showed that the power generated is not so terrible, and the cooling of video card can be successfully managed by an air cooling system and furthermore it is far from beeing the noisiest.

today appeared the photographs of the water-block prototype silenx, which was intended for the installation on video card of the model geForce 8800 GTX.

Focus attention, that because of the differences in the design of boards this water-block cannot be installed in to GeForce 8800 GTS, without speaking about other models video card. the studied water-block has contact areas with the majority of the elements: video chip, the discrete chip of input-output,memory microcircuit and the elements of memory subsystem .

From the back side of the printed-circuit board, under video chip is located the pressure plate, which fulfills decorative functions and play the role of supplemental radiator.

In the place of contact with video chip the water-block has copper insertion with the longitudinal channels. The form of channels in the remaining part of water-block is not so promoting - they do not provide the turbulence of flows, which would raise the efficiency of the heat removal. In a word, came out the beautiful and thoroughly prepared water-block, which has debatable constructive solutions. According to the preliminary data, air cooling makes possible to overclock GeForce 8800 GTX to the core frequency of more than 700 MHz, effective water cooling will for sure raise this value.

This has now been confirmed by NVIDIA's Adam Foat over at bit-tech

Some GeForce 8800 GTX boards that were built through our contract manufacturer had a simple BOM error - wrong resistor value. GeForce 8800 GTS boards are not effected by this.

These GeForce 8800 GTX boards were shipped to our Add-In-Card partners.

We have been working with them to pull these back and change the resistor to the correct value.

We believe we will still be able to hit our hard launch this week (Nov 8th) with the new GeForce 8800 GTX boards.

This is a testament to our execution as well as the execution of our Add-In-Card partners.

Im building a workstation, dual Clovertowns, and want to place one of these 8 series cards in my new box. theres a reason im not going down the Quadro FX route. add to this 4GB of ram and 2 HD...

My PSU is going to have be how big? 1000w + ?
