After installing my new AthlonXP2600 CPU in my 8Kha+ (Rev 2.0), I got a
message upon boot-up to adjust my BIOS settings. At boot-up, it showed
that this CPU wanted to run at 133x16 (2.128ghz), so I tried upping the
multiplier to 16 and found that my BIOS only went as high as 15 for the
multiplier.
Therefore, I figured that I needed to flash my BIOS, so I put my old CPU
back in (Athlon XP2100), then downloaded the latest BIOS from the Epox
site (8KHAI3425 dated 4/25/03). I then successfully flashed the BIOS
using the floppy disk method. I rebooted and loaded Optimized Settings
(per the flashing instructions), saves the settings and re-booted again.
I then checked the BIOS settings and found that the multiplier is
still limited to 15 as the highest value!
So, I haven't re-installed the new CPU yet, since it appears that the
necessary multiplier is still not supported in the BIOS.
Is there a more up-to-date BIOS available somewhere? Or is there
something I'm doing wrong?
The Epox website states that this motherboard supports this CPU, but the
BIOS settings appear not to. Any help with this would be GREATLY
appreciated!
