9200 Pro OR FX5200 Ultra?

Which card is superior? ATI Radeon 9200 PRO OR NVIDA FX5200 Ultra?

I have only these two cards to choose from and the winning card will be used in my gaming system to play things like BF1942 and Splinter Cell. I am upgrading from a RAGE 128 card.

Appreciate any advice.

The 9200 PRO is slightly better in regular modes but the FX 5200 ULTRA really shines with Ansio and AA enabled. If they're the same price, go with the FX.

[EDIT: Tom's newest charts seem to show the 5200 ULTRA sitting higher than where a 9200 PRO would be sitting, although there is no PRO version tested. Still, it would seem that Nvidia has squeezed more performance out of the 5200's with the newest detonators... either that, or the results are a bit of an anomaly compared to the older benches I've seen where the 9000 PRO regularly surpassed the 5200 ULTRA in standard modes)

5200's had a bad rap because they used to be terribly overpriced but they seem to have come down quite a bit, so they're not a bad deal.

Although, for ther same price or a few dollars more, I'd go with the Geforce4 Ti4200 which is, IMHO, a much better card.

Can you post a link to those newest charts. I have been finding it hard to see much benchmarking comparing the 9200PRO and the FX5200Ultra. They are $10.00 apart in price.

Anyone else have some advice or input before I make this decision?

My first instinct was to purchase the Ti4200 but in this part of Canada they are all discontinued and unable to be ordered.

Just a question...... is the Asus GeForce 5200VS FX = 5200 ultra, where the Asus GeForce 5200TD FX = 5200 non ultra?

fx5200 ultra looks better and u can count on the drivers its a kick ass card for 100 bucks
