Question 9600K or Ryzen (which means new MB/cooling as well)

Hi all

I have a good ASUS MB - H370 Pro running a <gulp> i3-8100 that is maxing out frequently in some gaming sessions.
It is water cooled and sitting in a silent Fractal R6 case <silent being my favorite word>
ASUS GTX 1060 6GB GPU
16GB RAM

I'm looking to upgrade CPU (seeing as the old i3 can't handle things now)

9600K or should I save up more for a new MB and CPU combo of the Ryzen flavour?
Are the benefits worth it?
It means a new water cooling platform as well as MB and possibly RAM - so thats a fair bit more $$$ to spend - the 9600 is also 1151, so...
Does AMD command a sufficient premium to change the whole thing?

Water-cooled with what cooler? The i9-9900K requires a beastly cooling setup. I'd say go for an Intel since you already have the motherboard. But I'm second-guessing the i9-9900K simply because it uses entirely too much power to keep it cool. There are other options, like i7-8700(K) or 9700K. I'm not opposed to getting a K-series on a non-overclocking motherboard, the K-series do have faster stock clocks.

I'm thinking of going Kraken anyway...

Not going 9900 but i5-9600K

Intel I3-8100
(Corsair H55 AIO water cooling - looking to upgrade to the Kraken anyway, but this runs a steady 90f)
ASUS TUF H370-PRO (Wifi)
4x4GB DDR4 2133
ASUS GTX 1060 6GB
2xNVMe Samsung 970 EVO Plus 512GB (1 for OS/Programs, 1 for Gaming)
2x512Gb Samsung 860 EVO (Raid 0 - striped) for installs
1TB SSD for other data storage

The bottleneck appears to be the CPU currently, so looking for advice whether to just do that to an i5-9600K or save up some more to do the MB/CPU/Cooling (yes I'm on a budget)
