I just bought a 970 EVO plus NVME m.2 for my PC

My motherbaord is a ASUS ROG STRIX z390-H

I have tried the m2_2 slot and the m2_1 slot. i really have no clue why it isnt working. maybe some options or settings in the bios? i have no idea really.

It is not showing up or detected in the bios at all which is the worse part it only arrived today brand new.

From what i can find my motherboard does support this this NVME 970 evo plus unless im wrong.

I really dont know what else to do, its got to be some option or something, makes no sense why it isnt detected at all in windows or the bios.

I just updated my bios to the latest version also. would really appreciate some help, this cost me 200$

Windows is installed on my physical 850 or 860 SSD , it boots of this as well, i also have a HDD installed as well, the 970 EVO plus NVME m.2 is brand new with nothing on it., and no its not because it isnt formatted, its not detected in bios or windows it doesn't show up in disk manager as unallocated or anything at all.

Your performance benchmarks are just fine. You are getting the full PCIe 3.0 read speed out of it so there is nothing to change in the BIOS.
Try downloading and running CrystalDiskMark 8.0 with a 5 times test with at least 1GB of data.
The Bandwidth Config should be in your BIOS somewhere. If not, don't worry about it.
If you are getting ~3500 MB/s Reads, then you are running X4 lanes.

Well done!
I suspect that all 4 sticks are not from the same kit which can cause problems.
All ram must be managed by the motherboard in the same way.
Namely the same speed, voltage and timings.
What I think you were looking at are the specs of each individual stick.'the 1037 is an outlier.
All sticks in a kit must be matched for proper operation.
You are fortunate that it works at all.
To avoid the delay, look at the specs that resulted on the memory tab and enter those values explicitly.

This should have had no bearing on your m.2 issue.

THis issue use to happen when i had one kit of 2x8 gb in there before i added the other 2

Your pause issue might be addressed in a separate thread from the m.2 issue. If you open another post, put a link here, so I can find it.

On cpu-Z look at the spd tab for each of the 4 slots.
for each, you will see the speed(bandwidth), maker, and part number.

What are the part numbers for each entry?

With this screenshot below, this is how it looked exactly even when i have the NVME stick plugged into m_1 and m_2 slots it said no NVME device found when it was plugged in( waiting on new nvme stick i purchased to arrive)

While the part numbers are all identical, the last two indicate a different dram maker which would account for strange differences.
Here is an example of why the same identical part numbers may not really be identical.

The 1037 speed trades a lower cas timing which is better for a lower speed. Not necessarily good or bad.

I might try selecting the last xmp setting in the bios which seems to be identical.
But, because of differences in the internal workings of the ram, it may not do what you want.

XMPS is disabled in my bios. i enabled it, and there is only 1 XMP profile available so i used that,

Made an account just to say that I’m currently having the same issues. Just built my pc and tried booting up windows through a bootable USB drive. Went through the installation and when it got to the point where it said “Select a drive to install windows”. It didn’t detect anything. So what I did after was go into bios and tweak settings but still no luck. I’ve tried every possible thing on the internet. And just like OP, everything is brand new so I doubt it’s broken or anything. Any kind of help is appreciated. I can take pictures of my Bios btw. It’s a Gigabyte Z490 Vision g. And my ssd is an XPG spectrix 240 m.2 pcie 1tb

It would be best if you started a new thread for your problem, however, does your BIOS list the M.2 SSD? Do you have any other drives in your build?
Yes, pictures of your BIOS would help.
Which M.2 slot are you using?
You should not use the one closest to the CPU. The manual says it is non-operational. Use one of the other 2.

https://i.gyazo.com/22385a0bcfe648a6c79903b4168b9b3f.png it picked up the new nvme i bought a 970 EVO plus NVME samsung, not sure what other settings i need to change, i downloaded latest nvme driver installed it, i did samsung data migration to clone the old ssd 860 evo drive and put it on the 970 changed it to boot from the 970 in bios

Is there anything u can see wrong with the performance of the drive here is benchmark results form Samsung

Is there anything u can see wrong with the performance of the drive here is benchmark results form Samsung, it is currently the windows / boot drive.

Excellent!
It looks like your M.2_2 PCIe Bandwidth Config is already set to X4 on that screen. That's what it should be.
Other than that you're good to go.
You might want to read this for more info.

Enjoy your new NVMe drive!

Hello, the screenshot above-showing x4 AND x2 for Pcie bandwidth configuration is not the screenshot of my bios it is someone else's it doesn't show those options for me in my bios at all no selection to change anything So i don't know what speed it is running at or know if I can change it at all anywhere. Are the speeds shown for the NVME stick from my other screenshots above from the Samsung magician app good or are they what they are supposed to be for my particular nvme stick 970 EVO plus? as from checking the speeds they should be getting from this drive 970 evo plus is 3,500 read /3,300 write MB/s , and in my screenshot it shows, 3525 and 2536 which the write speed seems to be under by quite a little so im wondering if something in my bios or something somewhere isn't right or if it is even set to x4 as above explained i cant even see if it is or change it anywhere in my bios as that option doesn't show atg all.
