970A-G43 Motherboard performance?

I recently heard that using this motherboard actually hinders the performance of my graphics card
and processor. Is this true? If so, what recommendation would you suggest as a replacement mother board? Also, is the sound card of this motherboard ideal for Sennheiser HD 598 or will the sound quality suffer?

MSI 970A-G43 is Entry-Level Socket AM3+ Motherboard. It's economy CPU VRM setup is not equipped to handle processors that consume lots of power and are overclocked. Heat is a problem due to lack of VRM cooling.

You get what you pay for. An extra $20 is the cost for a better VRM setup.

You will find that MSI have outfitted this model with a 6 + 2 phase power design. This might seem paltry compared to the 8 + 2 phase designs found on most 990FX motherboards, but you have to keep in mind that most competing 970 models feature a 4+1 design. When you combine these extra phases with the high quality Military Class 4 components - super ferrite chokes and polymer capacitors everywhere - you end up with a motherboard that has not been comprised in order to reach its low price. Power Supply usually depends on your choice of graphics card. 500 watts or greater is a common recommendation.
