I plan to buy one of these cards. I have a 900p monitor until I go out and buy 2 1080p's and then I plan to buy a 4k.

The question is, can it handle 4k?

this is true. Wait out for Skylake CPU. I would but im impatient like that. I will prob get that when it comes out anyway lol.
But yes 4k gaming Kingpin is right. If your not running 4k for say a year then wait out for Nvidia next gen GPU with the new super fast high bandwidth stacked die GPUs that will cream some 4k closer to 60FPS.
970 or even max 980 will do to save the cash til next year to splash out.

Hi Tom. as promised will post results.
The new 5820k is here and my god does it jump performance.
as said before wait out for skylake as its going to be month or so before you build.
By that time DDR4 will drop to around £100ish for 16GB although very reasonable atm at 130 quid.
go to DDR4 with either Haswell E or Skylake though. just need entry i7 for them.
MSI gaming is a Good MoBo and obviously the 980TI is overkill for 1080p but isnt that what its all about.

Benchmarks as followed
3d marks hits 13765 points in top 4%.
Batman Archam Knight 4k is 30FPS min, 45FPS avg
Shadows of mordor is 33FPS min and 42avg
The Witcher 3 runs a lovely 35FPS min and 47AVG
Crysis 3 showed another big jump to 24FPS min and 36 AVG

BTW all of these run at full 4k res on absolutely MAX everything.

Happy hunting buddy. and dont forget if your ordering in august wait til the end for Skylake.

And DX12 is promising even more advancements and making these sort of cards better,

Those are very interesting benchmarks. Thanks man.

I am running 2 x 40" 4K Philips monitors with a 980 Ti and it is great.
