aaaah!
I have a Sapphire 9800non pro with 3.0 infineon shite ram that is still overheating at less than stock speed! Its very hot where I am (35+ degrees some days) but I am running it at gpu 310 ram 280 and when I play games or do 3d work it seems to have a high chance of locking up and then not restaring the monitor when I reboot.
The sink on the gpu is VERY hot to touch, I can only put my finger on it for half a second or I will get scalded, even when I am not doing 3d stuff. I am using rage3d to underclock it at the moment, but previously I have had the gpu running stably at 370mhz, which is close to pro speeds!
Does it sound like I have damaged my card? I dont get any visual artifacts, it just can freeze when I run 3d apps.
Can anyone suggest some good extra cooling options, like brands/models of gpu fans for 9800's plz.

There are a number of odd things with this card however... I did buy it oem of ebay so finding out info is a little difficult.
1. It looks exactly like and is branded as a Sapphire but the internet has told me that there are no sapphires with infineon ram. Mine definly has infineon ram, bios flashes to samsung ram bios causes corruption in the display
2. Its detected and installed by windows 2000 as a 9800pro, but its default mhz is still set as a np (325/290). Flashes to all the diferent non pro bios do not seem to fix this error.

I have a built by ATi 9800non pro with Infinion 3.0ns memory.

I'm running mine at 420 core/330 memory.

Me too.

I just ordered this today...it was $42.00bucks shipped, with the optional fan included.

Sure there are...

If you flashed your card with that Samsung pro bios then you fried your card.

All 9800 non pro's are like that.

You should never have fcked with it's bios in the first place...there was no reason to. I have the same identical card as you, and mine totally rocks, especially considering I paid only $199 dollars for it.

I didnt flash it with a pro bios, it tried 2 saphire non pro 3.3 ram bioses, an ati infineon 3.0 bios and a hightech 3.0 bios.

however it did install once as a 9800 non pro in windows but I cant find the bios that made it do that anymore.

It never was a rocking overclock card to start with (max 375 gpu 290 ram before atifacts) which makes me think that the guy who owned it before might have screwed it... dammmmnatus!

Well....cards dont get shipped with bad bioses...normally. I dunno what to tell you.

Try to flash the card back to it's original bios and then check the cooling on the card. Perhaps change the fan and change the thermal paste. Since the ambient temp where you live is quite high it will be quite important that you cool the card sufficiently and if you got that default tiny sapphire fan, perhaps you should change it?
