Hi everyone,

I bought Elsa 9800Pro (980FX) 1 month ago. After about 2 weeks from purchasing date, my computer keeps crashing after I play games about half an hour. Then, I asked the seller to replace my video card. It took about 2 weeks for him to replace it. He lend me a 9200SE card, it runs just fine with my system with no problem at all, and so does my old GeForce2 MX.

Today, I get the 'new' replaced video card, I tried the card and the same problem arise. May I have your opinion with what is wrong with my system?

Note that my computer crashs only after playing games for a while and I'm quite sure it is a hardware problem, not the games; and I have update the latest driver. The screen just stops.

Thanks

PSU problem? Whats your psu? And do you have lots of components in your pc?

P4-2800->FSB800, Asus P4P800, 512DDR-400, Creative GeForce DDR (the first one lol)

lik,
I also thought that it might be a PSU problem since the 9800 card needs an extra power. Over the last few days, the Intel Active Monitor sometimes popup an alert stating that the CPU power 12v dropped down to around 10.5v. But that happens this week, when I was using 9200SE (no problem) and the power supply is a new one (the old one broke last 2 months)

splenda20,
re overheating, I don't think so, my room temp are quite cool and the CPU case is left opened plus the card itself has a fan

I'm going to ask my friend to test it tomorrow...

By the way, is there such thing like 'the card doesn't match the processor or Mobo'? Kind of odd, the other cards run well...

Your power supply is new, but what brand is it? And how many watts is it?

If you went from a Nvidia card to an ATI one then uninstall the agp drivers, chipset drivers, reboot into safe mode and rund driver cleaner, reboot and reinstall drivers.

Its also good to have at least a 350wt good psu or 400wt standard psu.
