A game changed my display settings

I have an old 5:4 monitor and today i installed Knights of the old Republic and as soon as the game started an error showed up with 'Can't support resolution. Please change to 1280x1024@60HZ.' After this i restarted my pc and the error still was there. I then connected my TV via HDMI and the monitor worked again but as soon as I remove the HDMI cable the error shows up again. I've tried everything I can remember.

Most likely you updated your display driver and screwed up your settings. Try clean installing the drivers.
