A nice sound card or DAC?

im not an expert but what is your budget?
also, do you need he portability? this is were some dacs can have the advantage as there are lots of portable dacs
or maybe you don't want the clutter on the desk so this would make a soundcard a better choice (although some soundcards are external too, but internal ones are more common)

You're better off with your onboard sound card than spending $60. Spending only $60 on a sound card or DAC, probably won't make any noticeable difference. If you were spending around $100+, then you would hear a difference. But today, most motherboards have pretty decent mid-range audio. If you really want to spend the money, get a DAC, not a sound card. I learned this the hard way. Most sound cards will have static and it's not worth it. I spent a bunch of money on the Creative ZxR and then had to return it due to the static and now I have a Schiit Bifrost DAC instead, which is AMAZING.
