Hey everyone, so i want to buy an AMD 6770, but my mobo is gigabyte g31m es2l, and it has a pcie 2.0 slot, the card is pcie 2.1. Will it work?
Thanks.

(Sorry if its in the wrong subsection, there isnt a subsection for gigabyte)

PCI E 2.0 is compatible with 2.1, 2.1 is only on the GPU and is just a slightly better system. There aren't motherboards with 2.1 and there isn't a interference to the GPU with 2.1 in a 2.0
It isn't going backwards 2.1 is designed to work in 2.0 to a slightly higher performance.

Oh okay, thanks. When some employees here in a pc store tried to install a 6770 into my pc, they said that the screen started flickering and the problem may be my mobo. At first i was bummed but after i got home with my pc, i remembered that i didnt uninstall my current gpu drivers, so i think thats the issue here! On tuesday im going back to the store with my drivers uninstalled and gonna let them try install the gpu again.

Thanks guys!

Don't let others install a GPU its so easy, essentially just unplug the power to the card (after turning the computer off and unplugging it from the wall), unscrew the card from the back panel and lift the card out. Place the new card back in its place screw it in and plug the new card back into the PSU. You can get a card here if you don't already have one. This store doesn't seem to know what they are doing.

Depending on how much they want for the GPU you could even get a better one if your power supply can handle it.

I live in europe, the 6770 costs 133 euros here, the reason why i dont want to do it myself is because i also bought a new 700w psu 80plus bronze, and i dont want to risk with installing a psu + they offered to do it for free so hey 🙂

Thanks, but will i lose any performance of the 6770 if i put it in a pcie 2.0 slot?(it says on the box its a 2.1 card). And also would i even notice any fps increases in my games? Currently i have a dual core e5400 oc to 3,4 ghz and a ati 5550.

Thanks.
