How can a sound proof case deaden sounds if it still has openings at the back of the case, for the exhaust fan mostly, can't you still hear sound emitting from the back of the case?

What is the best sound proofing material/cases out there? I want to deaden a low tonal quiet but annoying revving type of sound from my gpu.

yes you will still hear noise

though might be a bit less noise than with out the sound proofing

what about controlling your gpu fans with msi afterburner etc

that might cure it just answered a similar thread and setting a custom fan speed worked for them

If you want to go for an entirely silent system then there's alot more to say about the topic, but if you have a noisy gpu then it might be an issue with cooling or the ambient temps. By right most modern gpus do not start their fans even up to 60c, so it's odd that you have such an issue. If you have an older gpu then it would be about time to upgrade or even switch it out for a cheap modern alternative like a gtx1050ti-any of the major brands will be more than adequate for purchase if your gpu is more than 4 years old. Then again you should check your software and use the one provided with your gpu to have a 0% idle or install Afterburner and do what the prev user advised.

More about cases if you are convinced that it is the solution to your noise problems would be the Dark Base 600 from Be Quiet, or something like the CoolerMaster Silencio series if you are more budget oriented. Corsair also has their line of Obsidian cases that are more industrial-note that most of the cases stated in the list above are rather plain with nothing like windows or any bells and whistles, the sound deadening being a priority over all else.
