I think i give mac os 8/10 and windows 7/10

Personally would go Apple but I’d go the route of purchasing on finance so you could get a new one with a higher spec.

900 is a lot for a reconditioned MacBook.

You can get i5 8th gen MacBook Pro 2019 with touch bar for £1299 - get 10% discount if you are a student and free pair of headphones. That's 129+150 (for headphones and sell on ebay) that's a discount of £279. You are only looking at spending an extra 120.

For what you do you would be a lot happier with the MacBook that the ASUS. However I've the last 7 days Ive had a right old wrangle in my head trying to get the best spec for 1k but I don't think MacBook offer it. Windows have caught up and you can get an i7 at 16gb ram with a large SSD.
