I have Epson Ecotank ET-2720, and a very strange problem.

I used it with Windows 10 and everything worked fine.

Then I installed Windows 11, and used it with that as well, for a week or so, and everything was still fine.

Next I installed Epson Perfection V550 scanner.

Later I had this idea, what happens if I try install another scanner, and that is when the strange problem started.

So, I installed the drivers for the scanner that is with ET-2720, and something went wrong. Suddenly neither scanner worked.

OK. SO, I uninstalled all printer and scanner drivers and installed ET-2720 again.

It started doing this:

After installation it printed nicely, one time, but after next computer restart it freezes when I print. It starts printing, but then it slows down and starts printing some Windows printer driver-spooler-something, it takes so long that I have to cut power in order to finish it.

I thought there was something wrong with Windows, my messing up with it broke something. So I restored an earlier system image I took a week ago, it has no printer or scanner installed at all.

Then I installed the printer again, with the SAME results. Even this clean installation does the same !

Next I did reset my printer completely to factory settings. No help.

Every time I try to install it, it works the first time but after the next computer restart it won't.

So if something went wrong originally, how come restoring a clean Windows image, restoring printer to factory settings etc, has no effect and it still acts like that. hmmmmmmm !

What makes it even more weird is that I tested it with my laptop which has Linux. With that laptop it works just fine, after every restart.

I can't understand this, it makes absolutely no sense.

If restoring a clean Windows image, installing the drivers again, and restoring printer to factory settings, testing different USB ports and cables etc. doesn't help, then what will ?

And if the printer would be somehow faulty, how come it works with Linux?

Where, what website, did you use to obtain the drivers?

Be sure that you are getting the applicable ET-2720 drivers from Epson's website.

https://epson.com

https://epson.com/Support/Printers/sh/s1

Do verify that I have found the applicable websites.

I narrowed down to:

https://epson.com/Support/Printers/All-In-Ones/ET-Series/Epson-ET-2720/s/SPT_C11CH42201

Long story short when I first started looking into finding Windows 10 and Windows 11 drivers for the ET-2720 All-in-One there seemed to be quite a number of sites that appeared to be Epson but were not Epson.,

In the Operating System box select Windows 11.

I will reply my own question, I was too hasty and posted it, then I figure out my problem.

It seems to be a problem with Win11 print spooler.

When I open the console and stop the spooler - clear it - start again, that printer works again, for a while. Until I need to do it again.

This never happened with Win10, but seems to happen constantly with 11.

Might just go back to 10 for now.

So, issue resolved I guess. :)

I acquired the drivers from EPSON USA official website.

https://epson.com/Support/Printers/All-In-Ones/ET-Series/Epson-ET-2720/s/SPT_C11CH42201

Win11 drivers did that thing for me. I even tried the older driver version that is meant for Win10, nothing worked.

I needed to do some work so I was forced to return to Windows 10, immediately after that everything worked like magic again.

I think I will stay with it for now and try 11 again later, when the OS has matured a bit and later driver versions become available.

Good plan.

Just keep an eye on the driver version numbers at Epson's website so you will know when a new update(s) has been released. Read the "bug fix"/changes if listed.

Also watch and read the applicable FAQs and Epson Forums . Pay attention to what others say and ask. Likewise pay attention to company responses including both what is said and what is not said.

Eventually you (and others) will be able to determine that any underlying driver issues with respect to Windows 11 have been fixed.

Then try 11 again.
