I have Epson Ecotank ET-2720, and a very strange problem.
I used it with Windows 10 and everything worked fine.
Then I installed Windows 11, and used it with that as well, for a week or so, and everything was still fine.
Next I installed Epson Perfection V550 scanner.
Later I had this idea, what happens if I try install another scanner, and that is when the strange problem started.
So, I installed the drivers for the scanner that is with ET-2720, and something went wrong. Suddenly neither scanner worked.
OK. SO, I uninstalled all printer and scanner drivers and installed ET-2720 again.
It started doing this:
After installation it printed nicely, one time, but after next computer restart it freezes when I print. It starts printing, but then it slows down and starts printing some Windows printer driver-spooler-something, it takes so long that I have to cut power in order to finish it.
I thought there was something wrong with Windows, my messing up with it broke something. So I restored an earlier system image I took a week ago, it has no printer or scanner installed at all.
Then I installed the printer again, with the SAME results. Even this clean installation does the same !
Next I did reset my printer completely to factory settings. No help.
Every time I try to install it, it works the first time but after the next computer restart it won't.
So if something went wrong originally, how come restoring a clean Windows image, restoring printer to factory settings etc, has no effect and it still acts like that. hmmmmmmm !
What makes it even more weird is that I tested it with my laptop which has Linux. With that laptop it works just fine, after every restart.
I can't understand this, it makes absolutely no sense.
If restoring a clean Windows image, installing the drivers again, and restoring printer to factory settings, testing different USB ports and cables etc. doesn't help, then what will ?
And if the printer would be somehow faulty, how come it works with Linux?
