Hey guys, I've just replaced the DC jack on a laptop and am noticing that the connector on the end of the wire keeps falling out of the connection on the motherboard. It's driving me nuts, because it doesn't really "click" in and as soon as I put the case back together, suddenly the power stops working and if I open it up, the connector has come loose again. Any brilliant suggestions?

Solution
Sounds like the retention mechanism that is supposed to hold the jack in place is broken or missing. If its a missing screw it should be obvious but if its broken plastic I find that a spot of jb weld is an easy fix. put it somewhere that you can get to in case you need to break the "weld" in the future.

Great -- I just wasn't sure of what materials would be safe, and JB Weld sounds like the solution. It's odd because there's no broken plastic, the previous connection seemed to stay just fine, but this one... brand new, and it just keeps sliding right out. Thank you for that answer!
