Ok, I've got a A7N8X deluxe, IIRC, and it only supports DDR, not DDR2. Please remove it immediately to prevent damaging it. If you don't want to change mobo, you'll need to find DDR400 (PC3200) or some other DDR to put in your computer.

Hmmm...burnt smell..not a good sign. DDR ram typically runs at a higher voltage than ddr2. Don't know how you didn't damage the ddr sockets when you forced the ddr2 chips in them though.

well i got pretty drunk when installing them so who knows. Only let them run for about 20 sec though. My mobo is running fine, but i can still smell a burnt odor on both rams. After taking a closer look i noticed a metal piece missing where you insert them into the sockets. Instead of being gold, there is a black mark where it appears one used to be. Do you think i can contact newegg and tell them they gave me ineffective ram and they will replace them? or do you think they will know i just simply messed them up?

You'd think would of noticed summat werent quite right by the way it had to of crunched into the socket. And theres two notches on DDR2.
