The A7N8X is better.

You get:

FSB of 200MHz not 166MHz.
Dual Channel RAM.
Better onboard (chipset) features.

No bad points. (Cost?)

Dunno about the ATI VIA issues.

I have one of each. The VIA board has an ATI 9500 and the NVidia board has
an old Geforce2 MX400. I don't use the ATI latest drivers since I get
artifacts with them. I use the drivers from the Microsoft download site
without any problems what-so-ever.

A7N8X v2.0/Barton/ATI 9800 Pro.
Zero problems (22 months).

I'll go with that and add that I have ATI 9800SE all-in-wonders
on both of my A7N8X deluxe v2 mobo's and have zero problems
with them, so would have thought a 9600xt version would be fine.
