A7N8X-X memory placement

have an A7N8X-X which does not support dual channel memory.
i have two corsair xms 512 c2 sticks with heat spreaders on em.
one is in the first slot and i want to know which slot to place the 2nd one.
does it matter?
only reason i ask is if i use the two slots that are close together the
memory
sticks are right up against each other.

Any slots will do and with a space between them you will have better
cooling. - Just like you said.
