I currently use an A7V with the 4 IDE channels. I use the 2 Promise IDE's for 2
harddrives and the other IDES (Primary and Secondary) for DVD, CDRW, DVD and
Zip drives.
Could the same setup be done with the A7V333 with turning the Raid settings
off?

Yes, it could.
The RAID Controller jumper (RAID_EN) must obviously be enabled.

Like et al says it is possible but I think you will get better
performance by putting the hard drives on the via controller and the
optical drives on the promise controller. However, unlike your trusty
A7V the A7V333 comes with a Lite version promise bios and driver which
prohibits use of optical drives. To over come this use a PureUDMA hacked
bios and driver from Lumberjacker.
