First off heres the specs

A8N32 sli deluxe
x24800 not overclocked
2gig twincorsair 3200 dual channel ram
1 evga 7800 gtx ko 256
silverstone 600 watt psu sli certified
thermaltake tsunami case
I think im using bios 0708..whatever came with the board v102

Let me start of by saying im not having any problems while in windows.. I can play FEAR and BF2 for hours and never have a crash or lock up.. I do everything in windows with no hiccups

My problem comes when i restart windows..Sometimes when i restart windows b/c I patch a game or install new software it will restart..go to the ailife screen post then just sits there with a black screen with the white cursor blinking in the top left corner...It wont go to windows..I do have to say that it doesnt always do this...When it does..I just turn off the computer and turn it back on

So in general.....If it turn on the computer it always goes to windows with no problems..But sometimes when i restart it wont go to windows

Really, the first thing you need to do before you go chasing around anything else is update your BIOS. You are horribly behind and missed a lot of fixes. The current BIOS is 1103.

Good luck.

Disable AI NOS if it is enabled in the BIOS.

Do not run / use nVidia nTune

- as both of these can cause this problem to occur if overclocking (AI NOS does it, but the user might not know) and rebooting the PC.

Could be PEG Link Mode related perhaps ? (Set to PEG Link Mode to Slow in BIOS, you won't notice any performance drop, but would be able to measure it in benchmarks).

Try those ^ , and let us know how it goes afterwards.

I'm getting more or less the same problem with mine, just on the Windows load screen. Did you manage to resolve this issue?

Its always a smart thing to install a fresh OS when changing hardware such as Mobo. Next thing you do is get all your windows updates, then install your chipset drivers and update your bios.

I have the same problem. I have the an8 32x abit board. But i have the 600 wattsilverstone psu. Sometime when i boot the board will not post . It will go to a black screen .This happens maybe threee time a month. I think it is the psu from what i am seeing in the forumz now.

For the slow Windows boot problem try and disable 'Enable command queuing' for your SATA Controler Properties in device manager..

I had almost the same problem, but after changing just about everything... ram, cpu and even motherboard and reinstalling windows so many times. I finally had one item of hardware to look at... came down to a dodgy seagate sata 2 120gb drive. 8O

It wasnt a drive error, it was more of a dodgy manufacturing fault... as most of you will know where you plug the sata data cable into the drive the bit of plastic that holds the pins had acutally broken and was bending (this was a first for me after running sata for around 3 or 4 years now). Replaced the drive and reinstalled windows and never looked back now. 😀

So before you go blaming the board totally, check everything!!! i have replaced all the supplied sata cables with silverstone SST-CP01's as well as i find the supplied ones lacking.
