Does the Abit AA8XE work with the new Pentium 4 640 64-bit processor? I am assuming yes. If anyone sees this and knows or knows how to find out (couldn't find this even on Abit's site, or maybe I'm an idiot)... please let me know. I am ordering everything online tonight!

Dont get that board!!!! Its had some serious issues. If your going to get a 600 series CPU you should be getting one of the ASUS boards.

Hmm, well I ordered the board already, but I don't think it will be a problem. This board will never be used for overclocking. It is to run a retail-boxed, stock speed P4 640.

Thanks for the quick replies! Much appreciated.

Whatever you say! That board will be fine for running stock but it wont come close to OCing as my board will.

yeah, i bought if before i saw your post. Even so, I probably still would have gone ahead. This is for a friend and he will never, ever, even have the slighest incling of a desire to overclock :)

When you get the parts in be sure to PM me and I will give you some heads up on how to really get it running smooth. Even if you dont OC, there are still some things in BIOS that will need to be adjusted.

mozzartusm - thanks, I'll send you a PM when I get to that point. I appreciate that.

wusy - why would the Asus have been a better board in this case? What trouble may the Abit cause?

I dont remeber the specific issues that those boards were having at one time. IT may have been simply that they dont OC as well as the ASUS.

Oh i see. Well I'm building the system for him, so hopefully he'll never need to see the bios after I get it up and running.

I didn't realize it was such a hardcore board, I knew the Fatality version was. Is there a better, cheaper 925xe chipset out there (supporting LGA-775, 600 series P4s, and PCI-E) for future reference?

ASUS P5AD2-E Premium for a much easier 'plug in and go' and not having to worry about overclocking to the limit.
Youve lost you mind  Other than the easy Overclocking software the ASUS P5AD2-E-Premium has a very complex BIOS setup. It is made for Overclocking.
