What is the difference between the Abit IS7 & IC7?

What's the best mobo for me to get if I am building a Pentium 4c Northwood 3.2GHz @ 800Mhz FSB? Someone recommended the Abit - is this still the case? I can't remember if it was the IS7 or IC7 though...

thanks for the help!

Dan

Get the IS7

and too lazy to look it up, but as memory serves, the is7 is the i865 chipset and the ic7 is the overrated and heavily overpriced i875 chipset.

Yes, that's the only 400mhz chip it will run, the Northwood. It doesn't mean that's the board's top speed, as I can attest!

Abit IS7 - 2.8C @ 3.4ghz - Mushkin PC4000 (2 X 512) - Sapphire 9800Pro - TT 420 watt Pure Power
Samsung 120gb ATA-100 - Maxtor 40gb ATA - 100
Sony DRU-510A - Yellowtail Merlot

That means it wont work with the P4 willamette chips, but all other P4 socket 478 chips.
We always recommend the IS7, not 2 not E. It is best bang for buck going on Intel boards, perhaps BBB period.

Thanks guys, I will go with the Abit IS7. Just to clarify, is that the IS7-V? I checked pricewatch and www.newegg.com has:

ABIT "IS7-V" i848P Chipset Motherboard for Intel Socket 478 CPU -RETAIL

for $63.00... Is this the one to order? And whats the IS7-V2 for like the same price?

Thanks again!

NO! Just the plain old IS7. You want the 865PE chipset NOT the 848!

The IS7 is THE IS7. The -G has a feature added, all other versions are STRIPPED.
