well, there's no getting away from the fact that a £110 C2D CPU outperforms a £110 AM2 CPU ...wow only not even 2 posts before core was suggested.
If you're thinking about a 680i SLI setup then why not work upto it with a 650i SLI to start with?the only problem with buying a core 2 system is me wanting a 680i SLI setup to go with it. im trying to buy an inbetween system to satisfy me until i earn enough to grab a decent $3k AUD machine.

The boards are cheap (~£75 in the UK), perform well & when you want to step up to a 680i you would only have to replace the mobo & not the CPU as well?
from what I hear Oz gets shafted even more on things like PC components & cameras etc. than the UK does (& we're not cheap). 8Oyou can get one for 75 pound, thats cheap as chips here, looking at $250-300 (£120) for one and availability aint great.
