Hello!

Did not really know where the thread should be placed so thought that the Windows section works best because I run win 7.

Since I've started getting random BSODs (made another thread about the BSODs) I have also noticed that the CPU is not working properly. Right now I have Chrome open with five tabs and no clips or music or something in the background that is active and the CPU usage from 5% to 50%, when I watch youtube (480p works OK but I have been able to watch 1080p without any problem sooner), I can barely look at it without lags. My internet is not the problem as it works splendidly on other computers (I have 30/5 mbit).

Playing games is almost impossible, when I'm in example League of Legends I only get about 30 fps, while I got 60 fps (I have v-sync on) stable before, using the same settings.

Another problem that may be linked is that the sound of a video or music stops for a sec when the CPU reaches 100% and all I hear is a static noise. The video also seems to lag. If I turn off all the programs I do not use, etc. and only have one tab open with youtube it works fairly well. I want it to work just like before, when I was at least able to multitask a little before it suddenly became much worse.

I've scanned the computer with Kaspersky, found no viruses. I ran MBAM-scan and found some malwares that I removed, no improvement. I defragmented hard disk, no improvement. I ran memtest, 2 cycles, no errors. The computer was formatted somewhere in the middle of December. Also, I have not installed anything fishy/dodgy (nothing at all as a matter of fact, what I remember anyways) just before the CPU started fiddling.

What to do now?

Thanks for your time!

You could create a new partition and install Windows in it, just the OS + drivers to see if problem persists, if it gets fixed well then go on with installing all else in it and format the other partition, if problem doesn't dissapear... I'd say your CPU is failing and is time to replace it.

Right now I have 2 partitions on my hdd, 1 partition of 80-100 gb for OS, and the rest for games, programs and storage. Don't I have to format at least 1 of the partitions in order to create another partition and have 3 partitions in total?

No, you could resize your games partition to create a new one using the free space you want to allocate for it, Windows 7/Windows 8+ (I guess Vista as wel) Disk Management is capable to do it, however I've never used it for that, usually I use EASEUS Disk Partition to do it.

Then that is what I am going to do! I have the partitions C (OS) and D (Other), if I create another partition it will most likely be E (which I install second OS on). Can I use the same cd key that I've used for the C windows as well? I have win 7 64-bit and planning on installing the same.
How do I choose which windows to boot into when both are installed?
And... if I notice that the computer is still as slow as it is now... can I remove the newer Windows and put the "extra" storage, which I will get from E (Windows 2) into D (Other)?

yes you can use the same cdkey, once both windows get installed you will get a prompt menu right after POST, you'll see 2x Windows 7, right after the installation the new one should appear selected by default.

If problem persists you can restart your pc, enter your old windows installation and use again disk management (or EASEUS) to format the E partition and then merge it back with your D to recover that space.

Thank you very much for everything! I will install windows on another partition during the weekend and then come back with how it went.

One last question... Will I have to reinstall all games/programs in the new OS ? Let's say I have Tetris installed now on this OS, I install another OS. Will I be able to play Tetris without installing anything?

If you are going to make the switch to the fresh installation then yes, most of your software/games will need to be reinstalled, some games like those from Blizzard/Steam can be copied from your older installation and will run with no problems, other games will need a fresh install.

Thanks once again! I will return when I've installed Windows

Turned out to be some strange software issue as it is working normally now after a fresh install of windows. I installed all drivers and everything and I'll delete the old Windows to free up some space. Thanks for your help!
