Greetings,

What I want to know is that how can I run 2 applications with 2 monitors. Is dual-core CPU must for such a multi-tasking or can I do it with my old 2500XP system?

What I mean with multi-tasking is, while playing a game on the first monitor, I want to see my desktop (browsing/chatting) on the second monitor. And which decent/mainstream graphics card would you prefer for such a system?

Thank you for any help!

Doesn't work to well because the game want to run in full screen mode, you'd have to minimize the game each time you want to use the second monitor. I'm a gamer with two-monitors and that's how my setup works. I use my second monitor for email, so I can screen it to see if it's important enough to exit out of full screen mode for gaming.

You do not need dual-core, just a video card that supports dual monitor outputs.

Some games like UT2K4 support a windowed screen. This can be used for chatting quickly between level loads and such. The good thing about a windowed screen is that Windows doesn't have to rerender the desktop due to the differing resolutions.

Not many games support a windowed screen though.

If you have a newer video card you can hook up two monitors and span your desktop across it. Since the game is set for one monitor, in my case 1280, then when you start the game your desktop will still be active in teh other monitor. WIth dual core you could actually start a movie in one monitor and the game in the other. I tried it once, it works good. You can ven switch back and forth to like check a DVD burn or an email comes that you want to see.

Thanks a lot for the responses!

My game is WoW, and da-da, it supports windowed mode ;-)

So you are saying that when I start the game, it will run in one of the monitors while the second monitor continues displaying my desktop.
While playing the game, whenever I drag my mouse pointer "too right", the mouse pointer will instantly switch to the second monitor and vice versa. Did I understood well?

And finally, I need an AGP card, which one would you prefer?
