Question Access denied on any external Storage

Hi,

So I don't know what happened but now I can't access any external storage (external hdd, usb stick, phones) on my Windows 10 PC with the error "Access is denied". Tried updating Security settings as advised online but no matter what I do I receive the error "Unable to set new Owner on Removable Disk. Access is Denied". Also tried other things I found online like Chkdsk or sfc scannow but still receiving same error.

I updated Windows 10 recently but I don't know if that caused the issue.

Any help will be appreciated..

Was there any drive locking or encryption software used with these?
The upgrade to W10 would uninstall incompatible software.

No, I don't use any encryption software.
