Maybe you need to log on as computer administrator.

I have the same problem when I tried to install my new printer
(HP-all-in-one). My problem seems to be in the hardware wizard. I get an
error message when I tried to use the "Add Hardware Wizard". The message I
get is: "you can install only one devise at a time. Another device
installation is underway.......". I do not have any hardware installation at
the time.

Can someone help me?

Thelma,

I just went through this nightmare, trying to install a neighbor's new
All-in-One...took me 2 days <g> !

Anyway, look on HP's support site for a small utility that you can
download and run for this problem. It has something to do with
resetting permissions in the Registry.

To Casey : be sure to follow the directions EXACTLY ! If you've tried
the installation several times, you need to uninstall all software,
reboot in safe mode and delete all printers there, pull the plug on the
printer, reboot and start from scratch. Install the software, and do
not connect the printer to the computer until the installation tells you
to. I would even recommend that you check the "connect printer later"
box and finish the software installation without connecting the printer
at that time. Once the software is done, power off the computer, turn
it back on, power up the printer, and then connect the printer. That's
what finally worked for me !
