Access point extender or router

Hi all
I want to extend my wifi in my home and I am thing what to buy, Routher (repeter) or Access point extender.

A repeater and range extender are the same thing.

The ways to extend WiFi in order of quality are

1 A wired Ethernet between the router and new access point
2 A power-line adapters connected to the router and another with an access point
3 A repeater placed about half way between the router and WiFi use area.
