While trying to delete vi.dat file in X:\Samsung drive\Samsung Software\SecretZone\ I accidentally deleted my smr file. Is there anything I can do to regain access to my secret zone?
Perhaps on yours, yes. However, that does not have to be the case on all machines. The Recycle Bin can be configured such that the default is to NOT move things there but to delete straight away. Holding the <Shift> key while deleting will also bypass the Recycle Bin. We do not know how or why the OP deleted the file while bypassing the Recycle Bin but what's done is done. If nothing has been written to that drive since the file was deleted there's still a chance (getting slimmer by the second if the drive is still in use) that the file can be retrieved by using one of the undelete programs linked above. Just make certain that NOTHING gets written to that drive before you can start the recovery.Stuff from my external goes to recycle bin. And should do so
why is that? cries out loud.Is that smr file the gateway to the Secret Zone? If yes, there is no way to reinstall that file without losing the Secret Zone contents?
Yes... that's the case. R UNDELETE is able to locate the file (only software I tested that was able to) but license fee is not worth it for a single task.I asked because I want to learn more about this software situation. I have no answer myself. I hope others will.
all i could find in cnet download. only one software that actually found the file is R UNDELETE. not only found it, but found it extremely fast... which leaves me wondering: how come only one software provider performs such a trick?Whats softwares have you tested with?
