I know a good amount about computers, but when it comes to monitors im clueless and what the specs mean and whats good. Only thing i know is the the lower the reponse time= faster.

Heres the samsung monitor 23" 5ms

i notice it has higher resolutions, im not sure if that changes much but it does. Anyway ill just let you'll compare them.

heres the acer monitor 24" 2ms

As for looks i prefer the samsung, because the steel(plastic, or whatever) around the screem is slimmer so it makes the monitor look bigger. The acer has thicker(not to much thicker but thicker) sides which makes the screen look smaller.

The Samsung has a weird resolution that won't be supported by many applications, and it's not a noticeable difference; however, it's still 16:9 aspect ratio.

I'd suggest going and looking at them in a store, you might be surprised to see the difference between 16:10 aspect ratio (1920x1200) and 16:9 aspect ratio (1920x1080). 16:10 is designed for computers, and as such gives you more vertical height. 16:9 is meant for TV and widescreen movies.
