Acer Aspire v5 122P-0643

I just got this netbook and I tried connecting my Seagate 3.0 drive to the Acer. It doesn't register in the 3.0 port only the 2.0 port. Yet my 3.0 thumb drive responds fine in both ports.

My apologies the external drive is a Western Digital drive not a Seagate
