Acer aspire won't connect to internet

My Acer aspire would connect to WiFi but no internet after resetting the whole machine. Solution - delete mcafee antivirus and Reboot. Then go to internet options, advanced settings (last tab), reset advanced defaults and Reboot.
It seems that mcafee makes a change in the advanced settings that stuffs Internet access sometimes. Deleting it and resetting the advanced defaults removes the issue for some.
Please then install a new anti virus program.

Hi there.
It was an odd issue to me as I has rest the laptop using the devices inbuilt restore to factory function and couldn't understand why the issue existed following a restore.
I followed everyone's advice concerning flushing dns etc to no avail. It still wouldn't work. Even after following the advice to remove Mcafee it wouldn't work. As the router worked fine for all other household devices I finally figured it may be an internet setting. It was a sheer fluke that going to internet options/advanced/restore advanced settings worked for me. I literally watched various settings uncheck/recheck and bingo, it now works.
Perplexing as to what Mcafee did but I am happy to post my solution for others and hopefully it helps someone.
I think what you're trying to say is that the app in itself is bad. You might also want to know that if you have a firewall on both your AP/Router and your system/laptop then you will face the same issue you've outlined above. In essence, most (if not, all)antiviruses, have a firewall in them and is enabled by default. If you turn off either the routers firewall or your system's firewall and regain internet connectivity, then that's where the issue was.
