My Acer Nitro 5 (2018 model, not the newer ones) has massive stuttering on low effort games that ran fine originally. The main games it's really bad on are Don't Starve, and Minecraft. The games go from over 100 fps to 0-2 fps and then back up after a second or two. They seem to occur more often the longer I play the game. Please any help or suggestions are welcome. I run these games off of an SSD.

Specs:

Model: Nitro AN515-53
GPU: GTX 1050ti
CPU: Intel Core i5-8300H 2.30GHz
RAM: 16 GB (15.8 GB usable)
64 bit Windows 10

lmk if you need any more specs.

Most likely overheating, download intel XTU and run the stress test, look for temperatures, you should see "temperature throttling " when running it. If that is the case you need to change thermal paste, and maybe undervolt. If you do not want to open the laptop then try undervolting first.

Thank you! This does seem to be the issue. Unfortunately, the CPU is locked and I can't undervolt it, so thermal paste it is. Thanks for the help.
