Hello,
I have an Acer V5-471P-33216G50Mass which I had bought in 2013, it came preloaded with Windows 8, which I upgraded to Windows 8.1
Overall, I never had problems with the laptop besides the usual slowness. At one point I dual booted Linux Ubuntu, and after using for a while, I deleted it.
About 4 months ago, I upgraded to Windows 10, and after some use I encountered a bug that rendered it useless, so I downgraded back to Windows 8.1, I was really frustrated, and at the moment my laptop was being slow, so I completely wiped my drive and installed Linux Ubuntu, which is currently my only operating system on my computer.
I really did like Ubuntu but it turns out that many programs that I use are not available with Linux, and I wanted to go back to Windows. I couldn't really find instructions on how to do that on Google, so I tried a recovery USB from Microsoft as well as Linux, and they all reverted me back to the Ubuntu loader, I tried to go into BIOS and change the order in which to boot up (Linux, windows, drive, etc.) but it would not keep the change and it would revert back into its previous state.
In my frustration I enabled Legacy Boot, which after restarting my computer I get the following screens:
1. Acer boot up screen. It does say "Press F2 for set-up" but when I press it nothing happens except a quiet long beep noise.
2. It lists the processor specs? It lists something "Intel'
3. It says on the top let corner: "No operating system found"
4. When I have something inserted (like a USB) it says to: Remove media devices" and then proceeds with step's 2 & 3.
I have tried turning it on & off, and different variations of F2.
I read in another thread to do the following and have ordered the cable to get it done, but I do not know if it will work.
*****“I had the same problem this works if your hard drive is formatted and your computer does not recognize when you want to install.
Solution 50% it might work and plus and if running windows 8 you will lose your LC key, if you have the CD/DVD the LC Key will be on your Disc check before doing it.
You have to have USB 2.0 to SATA IDE 2.5 3.5 5.25 External Adapter Cable,.and another computer
1. take the hard drive out of your laptop/desktop Check if everything is properly connected it might be misplaced.
2. connect the External Adapter Cable to the HDD (Hard Drive) to another computer and wait till the computer recognize the HDD. If it does not recognize check the cables if it does not most probably your HDD is Dead
Note: you can back your files from there if you have any important files, like picture, documents.
3. after the computer recognize the HDD click start manu and type computer management and click on COMPUTER MANAGEMENT go down to Disk Management and search for your Disk (HDD) that is connected with the External Adapter Cable.
4. right click and click delete the volume make sure you the delete every singlle volume till it tells you Unallocated Drive or Unallocated Disk
5. disconect the hard drive and put back in your Laptop/desktop and reinstall you Windows angain. For windows 8 F12 To Boot With Acers F2 for Bios To Turn the SECURE MODE OFF and UFF so you you can install windows 7 if you want.

I have Acer warranty, but I don't bellieve this is something they will cover, at the moment, I do not have the money for a new computer, but I will start saving if it comes to that.
Any advice?
Thank-you
