Hey
so the base for my gaming pc started life as an Acer x3990 that i found abandoned with a dead hdd. its running an i3 2120 and later on after i get a decent gpu for this build i plan on getting an i5 2500k with how cheap they are or even an i7.
now what i want to know is will this motherboard support i5 cpu's and upwards or not. all i can tell you is its a H61 chip set motherboard that's out of an Acer x3990
Cheers Guys

Judging by the service manual, the possible choices are listed here - http://www.manualslib.com/manual/232907/Acer-Aspire-X3990.html?page=96#manual

The best you can do is a Core i7-2600 per the manual. Whether it'll support anything beyond listed in there is debatable, but for you I would avoid getting an K-series chip just because you won't be able to take advantage of the overclocking capabilities.

Awesome thank you I'm perfectly happy with an i7 2600 and i knew being an OEM board it wouldn't be able to overclock but thanks for the heads up anyway.
