I have zone alarm turned off when I am networking.The files I am trying to move are drivers that I down loaded and I'm saving to the drive on the other PC.Like the drivers for a cannon multipass. As for write permission, what I am seeing is that the read only boxes are not checked. I don't know of any other sucurity on XP. The files are not being used at the time. Bruce

I assume the file system on the remote pc is ntfs, on that pc, right click the folder you want to alter the access rights for, click sharing, shared as, premissions, and add any userrs (or all) that need permission, be sure you have no DENY's in there
