Hello, I wanted to know that if I run windows xp professional in HAL multiprocessor mode rather than ACPI mode in a new i7 2nd Gen laptop, will it harm the hardware in any way?
Well I have some programs which need a native windows xp environment, not a virtual one.. Btw, i have successfully installed xp in HAL mode, but there are warnings of processor overheating from CPU temp monitoring software... it says my i7 is at 81c .. Is it safe?
Under load that still seems extremly high? If that's not under load I would stop using it and install a diffrerent os or look for a fix. Is the laptop sounding like a jet? Does it feel hot?

It was under idle processor!! I have uninstalled it and using windows 7.. Is there any other way I can install windows xp, i think HP has done something with the BIOS.. I can not install any version of windows xp.. I've tried all 32bit, 64bit, and all kinds of SATA drivers in every possible way.. Just after the setup finishes loading files it gives a bsod..
