Active Noise supressors

Anyone know if there is a active noise supressor on the market for CPU cases? With 6 HD's & 4 fans my computer puts out a lot of decibels. I am hoping an active noise supressor would cut down the noise level somewhat.

Six hdd's and 4 fans, wow must be some sys, the only thing I could suggest is to look for quieter fans

or stick it in another room ;-) We have about a dozen machines here in the office (for 3 people!) and they make one hell of a racket, we just position them behind partitions which significantly cuts down the noise.

If there's any noise coming from the case vibrating (you can tell by placing your hand on it, you'll feel the vibrations and the amount of noise will drop) you can try adding a thin sheet of lead to the inside of your case to make it heavier and more vibration resistent. I think they often do the same thing to cars, so that might be the best place to locate something. Also it is sometimes possible (depending on the case) to put a thin layer of rubber between the hard drives and where you attach them to the case, that will also reduce the amount of noise amplified through the case.
Failing that, ear plugs are easy and cheap to get hold of

Hope it's given you some ideas,
Martin.

P.S. Try these sites and be careful not to block the airflow through your computer which might cause it to overheat:

An active noise-suppressor?
Is that where you use a microphone and speaker to emit a 180-degree phase-shifted waveform from reference to promote complete destructive interference? I've read about stuff like that, but haven't seen it out on the market yet.....

NeilTan ... Car Stereo shops use a product thats similar to
a rubber lead material that is used for deadening sound. They used it on car doors/hoods ... anything they want to deaden the sound so speakers wont create bad vibrations .. it will work well in a case as its only 1/8 inch thick

thats not that bad...
I use a small desk fan to cool my comp and I use my speakers to supress the noise...
