what upec says is true. more specifically, ATX is what is known as a form factor. all ATX motherboards have mounting holes in pre-determined places, as well as a standard plug interface (that is to say, they all look the same when they stick out the back of your case). unless you want a really super small computer, you want an ATX motherboard. you also should be able to spot the ATX form factor on most standard computer cases (all ATX cases can hold ATX motherboards...get it?).
once again, the ATX form factor is the standard. plan on buying ATX gear.
