Addiction to PC gaming.

So, I have this addiction to PC gaming, I play up to 3+ hours even on weekdays, next year I will be taking a couple IB and AP classes in school, what should I do ? I tried uninstalling my games and steam. But with in days it just comes back.

Should sell my rig and, Buy a Mac ? Chrome book ?

You could limit yourself to just playing on weekends? Eg, Friday nights, Saturday, Sunday.

5: Think of how much money you will earn once you pass!

Self control. Learn how manage and control how your time is spent. Once you're in those classes, try to focus on them moreso than gaming. There's really not much you can do physically aside from either putting away your rig, or selling it. With the former, you can always just plug it back in. With selling it, there's no going back; you'll likely end up buying a new PC or something. You just have to be a stronger person.

If your gonna be in AP or IB then you should already have these things under control and have self discipline, learn what time it is to play and what time it is to game. Only you can do this, if you buy a Mac the problem cold come back in you just looking online all day instead of working. All about that self control.

On a serious note, if you are addicted to playing pc (I very much am) then take it out of where you sleep, only use it in say; the front room, so your parents can see how much you use it, don't have your phone or any other "stuff" connected to the internet in your room. I don't even have a TV in my room now, it helps you learn when to sleep aswell!

Interesting. I always had a gaming adiction (im 30 now) and it came to a sudden stop 2 years ago.
This happened when i started working with a computer 8 hours a day.
My eyes basicly gave me the finger when i wanted to play the PC.
Best part is, I get to nejoy my gaming a lot more when I play it only on weekends.

A lot of people can give you great advices but it will all come down to your personal caracter (people who tell you to "have self control" assume you simply can do it. Humans dont work that way. Its proven that without something that affects us, we dont change our behaviour).

A good Idea is to "force yourself" to do something more for about a week. Not totally stop gaming for a week, just choose 1 or 2 days in the week where you will actually |force| yourself to try other things:
-Reading
-Sport
-Going out and trying to get a girl
-Drawing
-Cooking
-Playing board games (yeah, those do still exist)

I personally did some of those and some I liked enought to start doing them more often, reducing my gaming time from around 60 hours a week to around 12 hours a week.

My addiction comes into play with a new game I get obsessed with it until I beat it, and then usually I don't play it again unless it's a really good one.

I limit my gaming by staying away from the online massive multi-player games that are designed specifically to be addictive and immerse you into an imaginary world with hours, on hours, on hours, of progressive gameplay and then you still do not in most cases actually finish the game!

At least a single player game will in most cases eventually come to an end, then if you replay it that's your choice and your problem.

Take a break, go outside, look around, find something productive to do, build something, grow something, feed something, do something other than gaming, there is much more to life!
