Adding more ram slows down computer?

I recently purchased the crucial ballistix sport 8gb ram(http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/bls8g3d1609ds1s00) for my MSI Z77a-g45 mobo. I wanted to upgrade fomr 8gb to 16gb because i use a lot of VMs. It seems that computer got a lot slower after installation. What can be the cause of this problem? The previous ram was in dual channel of 2x4gb kingston memory(http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Technology-1600MHz-KHX1600C9D3X2K2-8GX/dp/B004JO3L40). They ahve the same voltage and same latency. Any ideas?

Are you using 2x4 Kingston and 1x8 Ballistix

Check the HWMonitor Memory Tab and see if it is reporting any Channel info. Post the result here.

Also remove the 2x4GB RAM and boot with only 1x8GB Ballistix.

With three RAMs there will not be any channel. This config is not recommended actually. You could have got 2x4GB Ballistix for better compatibility.

there was no "memory" tab. I think I didn't have it before the installation too. So in order to solve this issue, would i have to return the ram or get another 8gb ram? And also, does it take new ram some time to "warmup" ? Or are there no such thing

Well from Memory tab, not only there is a dual channel but the frequency is also correct approx 1600 MHz. What sort of issues/problems you are facing pl

There was lag in everything I did (ex opening firefox opening games etc) but now for some reason the problem has died down.

With the mixed sticks, might try raising the DRAM voltage to 1.55 and the CPUVTT voltage to 1.12 and see if that helps any
