Hi everybody,

I am building a new Intel PC which will have an M.2 drive (1Tb) for the operating system (Windows 10)
The OS will be a clean install from a USB drive.
There will also be an additional standard HDD for storage.
My current PC has a Samsung 240gb SSD which was the C drive and has Windows installed.
I know that the new build would not boot from this drive and I don’t want it to.
I would however like to use it rather than waste it.
I intend to add it to the new build as an extra drive. Will it be OK to install it from the outset before installing the OS onto the M.2 in the new build or should I add it later once the new PC is up and running?
Thanks in advance for your constructive advice.

Solution
Add it later.
A Windows install should always be done with only the one desired drive connected.
No matter what may or may not be on other drives.

Thanks very much for the expeditious and informative reply. Much appreciated. I’ll just install the M.2 initially until everything is up and running.
