Additional Questions

I believe I have a good grasp of how to OC the CPU: increase the voltage multiplier in bios .5 until the temp exceeds 55C in full load, and stop before I hit 1.5 volts ( or in my case 1.25, as that is my phenom 9750's max voltage ): ).

I am curious however; how would I go about oCing my NB and--if possible- my GPU?
SPECS:

CPU: AMD Phenom 9750 Quadcore

GPU: Asus Radeon 4870 1GB

PSU: antec 650W

RAM: 8G 800mhz

HS: Sunbeam CR-CCTF120mm core contact freezer

I have not yet begun to OC, as I would like to get the whole picture before I start to fiddle around! lol.

when OCing, you first increase the CPU multiplier (unless its locked) and then the bus speed. you only increase the voltage once you hit a instability. i usually let my PC run for 8 - 10 hrs. on Prime 95 before i consider it stable.
(there is no voltage multiplier, just the voltage)

you can't really OC the northbridge itself, but you can increase the voltage of it, and that will occasionally help if you run into any stability issues. the most you'd want to increase it by is .1v

as for your GPU i believe ATItool is still considered a great application to use. I use a Nvidia GPU, so i'm not to sure on all the detials on an ATI card.

ATI tool is a great oc tool, but unfortunately they have yet to release a version that supports the 4870. I myself use rivatuner.
As for CPU OCing, Arges86 gave you could advice, but don't forget to monitor your temps.

New development:

It seems whenever I set the BIOS to let me fiddle with the CPU multiplier, you know--change it from auto to manual--it wont let me boot. Doesn't matter if I change a setting or not, it just won't boot. Every time, I end up clearing the CMOS and going back to square one. Any thoughts?

well,
is does your CPU have an unlocked multiplier? a.k.a. is it a 'Black Edition'?
If not, then just worry about changing the bus speed.

So far as I know, it's not a black edition. Is it called bus speed in BIOS, or can it have a more technical name?

if its not a black edition than u can only lower your multiplier, but u can still change the bus speed.
They are two different things.
