ADF scanner has black lines running down every scan.. Help!

My brother printer, only 6 months old, has black lines that run down the page every time i scan with the ADF. i believe it started when i scanned a file RIGHT after printing it. assuming it was ink, i whipped everything off, still didnt work. So i took the glass out completely cleaned that baby, and scrubbed the white pad, but it STILL has the lines. if i choose to do a 2 sided scan one of the sides doesnt have the lines. is it possible i there is another scanner and glass on the inside i cant see to clean? any ideas?

ADF normally has a thin glass strip, separate to the main glass bed. Normally only ~1-2cm wide.
Have you cleaned that?

No, Being so new I didn't think to clean the "lens" I would call it, if that's what your talking about. a small long strip under the glass window. Is it possible that the white paper got scratched? if I look just right at it under a flash light I feel like I can make out scratches around where the lines are...
